    Internet Binds Immigrants To The Homeland

    The Internet is booming in Russia, with a user growth of about 100% each year. But many Russia-oriented sites are created abroad, in the U.S. Anecdotes from Russia became the first Russian Internet daily when it was launched in November 1995 by professor Dima Verner at the University of Kentucky. Chertovy Kulichki, the first Russian entertainment server, was created in 1996 by Valera Kolpakov and Leo Umantsev, students in the U.S. Internet technologies are being seen as a means for helping connect Russian immigrants all over the world. Other notable sites include SovInform Bureau and Info-Russ.
